The Kendrapada Sadar police arrested a 45-year-old truck driver, Debaraj Dalai, who is a resident of Tigiria area under Athagarh, for raping his 15-year-old daughter, who was studying in 10th class, in October 2020.
According to SP Madkar Sandeep Sampat, the victim had lodged an FIR on October 6 against her father. Dalai was staying with her family at his in-laws' house in Bharatpur under Kendrapada Sadar police station.
The incident occurred when the victim's mother was absent at the house. She, later, brought the matter before her mother's notice. The Sadar police registered a case bearing case no -240/20 under section 376(2)(f)(i),354,506 of IPC and had started an inquiry. But the police failed to arrest the accused person as he was absconding.
Recently, acting on a direction of IG (CR) of Police Narasingh Bhol, the Kendrapada SP directed to execute an old warrant and arrest accused Dalai. Dalai was produced before the SDJM Court where he was remanded in jail custody after his bail plea was rejected by court, informed police sources.
