The East Coast Railway’s Vigilance wing along with Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have started checking at important railway stations at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Sambalpur and Visakhapatnam against possible touting activities and other malpractices in view of Puja peak seasons.

The drive has been undertaken to protect passengers and Railway revenue.

“The ECoR is keeping strict vigil on the touts and unauthorised travel agents at Railway Reservation counters and misuse of facilities of e-ticketing etc. Round-the-clock monitoring is being done through CCTVs at important railway stations. The Vigilance Team is also keeping watch on booking of train tickets from the IRCTC website using fake personal Users IDs and attempts by touts towards selling them for a premium,” said an official release.

Massive awareness campaigns have been launched to educate the people in general and rail users in particular to bring transparency in public life. Seminars, banners, posters are being displayed and street plays, drama,  are being organised to create vigilance awareness.
