The main drainage system from the Yoshada Women's College to the Tribeni Mutt of Ganjam town is in a poor condition and there is no renovation work for a long time, alleged locals.
During the ongoing rainy season, waterlogging problems have cropped up in Ganjam town as the drain water is not released properly.
In 2013, flood water had entered Ganjam town after the Phailin cyclone and it took two days to clear the water from the town. Locals have repeatedly informed the problem to the authorities for redressal but in vain. Local politicians are equally callous toward the issue.
In 2014, renovation work of the drain had started but it stopped mid-way. The renovation work was later given to the Drainage Department, but it got delayed.
Recently, locals met NAC Executive Officer Abinash Mishra seeking a solution.
