Hyderabad-based Diabetes Education and Research (DEAR) felicitates diabetes experts from across India for their distinguished services every year on the World Diabetes Day.
This year, four doctors were honoured with the Diabetes Rising Star award. They included Dr Sunil Kumar Kota of the Diabetes & Endocare Clinic, Brahmapur. The award was presented at the online event “Diabetes Master Class 2021” by Minister (Commercial), High Commission of Canada, New Delhi, Andrew Smith.
Dr Kota was honoured for his immense contribution in diabetes education both for doctors and general public by conducting a plethora of academic and awareness programmes on diabetes. By his numerous publications, chapters, deliberations, he has illuminated the minds of many doctors on diabetes since last couple of years. His efforts are of tremendous benefit to the people of south Odisha by means of wide scale mass screening, awareness sessions with various organisations and interactions via print and electronic media.
Subsequently, Dr Kota deliberated upon the recent advances in the field of diabetes to the 1,000-odd audience present in a virtual meet. He said honour bestowed upon him would motivate him to work further.
