Dowry death: Woman, son arrested in JSpur

PNS

Acting on a dowry death case, Paradip police have picked up the deceased’s husband and his mother for alleged involvement in the crime on Tuesday.

Reports said that one Nihar Ranjan Sahoo, a resident of Atharabanki, had married Rajashree years back as per the Hindu rituals and the bride had brought sufficient dowry. However, Rajashree’s in-laws demanded more dowries and began torturing her mentally and physically. Surprisingly, Rajashree was stated to be ill on Monday and immediately after being shifted to a hospital, she succumbed there.

Rajashree’s parents, however, reacted sharply and alleged that their daughter was killed by her in-laws. Rajashree’s brother had lodged an FIR in Paradip against her in-laws, including her husband.
