In yet another gruesome double murder, the bodies of a man and a woman were found, while another woman was rescued in a serious condition from a house under the Chandrasekharpur police station at the Nilakantha slum here on Wednesday.
The injured woman was admitted to the Capital Hospital. Her condition was said to be critical, and she would be transferred to the SCB Medical College Hospital, according to sources.
Police, being informed in the morning by neighbours, reached the spot and found the bodies of a woman and man lying in pools of blood, while another woman was found seriously injured.
The police are yet to identify the victims; they were probably daily wage labourers, according to sources.
Reports said Gopal Barik, owner of the house where the bodies were found, was absconding and police were searching for him.
The police and a forensic team carried out further investigation at the crime scene.
