With an aim to make people aware about the ill effects of firecrackers having heavy sound and poisonous gas, the United for Social Interests Foundation (USI), in collaboration with the Micronum Solutions Pvt ltd, on Thursday organised a signature campaign here ahead of the Diwali.
The campaign was inaugurated by Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena and former Indian football team captain Sradhanjaii Samantaray by putting the first signature in the presence of USI managing trustee Tarini Prasad Sahoo and trustee B Upen.
The special attraction of the event was a 24-feet-long on-the-spot painting by USI Foundation life member Subharanjan Acharya, artists Ambuja Patra and lokanath Jagat.
The USI Foundation appealed to the public not to waste money on firecrackers and, instead, to donate the money to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
