Former and incumbent MlAs belonging to all parties have once again requested the Union and State Governments not to rehabilitate Bangladeshi infiltrators in Odisha in the greater interest of the country.
According to Odisha Krushak Mahasangha president and former MlA Bibhudhendra Pratap Das, though MlAs have been placing this demand before the Union and State Government since long, yet no action has been taken.
The elected representatives have also urged the Governments to issue necessary directions to concerned officers to ensure that such infiltrators are not issued Aadhaar cards. They expressed concerns that many crimes have been committed by infiltrators in the past, and such apprehensions are also there now.
“A drive should be initiated to drive away infiltrators for larger interest of the country,” said Das.
According information available from Government sources, there were 4, 035 Bangladeshi infiltrators and 10,846 Bangladeshi refugees in the State by December 2010.
