Don't exaggerate Gita's visits: BJD

PNS

Even as the frequent visits of Chief Minister Naveen Pataik’s writer-sister Gita Mehta to Bhubaneswar have sparked off speculations in political and media circles, the ruling BJD on Friday sought to clarify that there was nothing political about her coming to her younger sibling’s house Naveen Niwas here.

BJD spokesperson Surjya Narayan Patro told reporters that the media is unnecessarily exaggerating Gita Mehta’s visits. United States-based Gita uses to visit her elder brother Prem Patnaik in New Delhi and Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar whenever she comes to India, he said, adding that the family matters should not be politicised.

Significantly however, Patro, replying to a question about the speculations that Gita might be sent to Rajya Sabha, said if any political development relating to the Patnaik family takes place, it would be made public at an appropriate time.
