BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday told the voters of the Baleswar Sadar Assembly constituency that he didn’t go to them directly because he doesn’t want to put any of them in possible danger of Covid-19 infection.
Patnaik said this while addressing voters through videoconferencing from his residence in Bhubaneswar. “I know you all love me. If I had visited Baleswar for poll campaigning, you would have gathered in large number, which is not wise at all when Covid pandemic is prevalent. I don’t want that anyone of you fall into danger for me.
Thus, I am meeting you through videoconferencing now. After corona situation comes under control, I will go to you and talk to you about development,” said Patnaik. Terming Baleswar as an important place of the State, Patnaik said his Government has established Fakir Mohan University and a new medical college and hospital. His Government is stressing on the rights and development of the slum-dwellers. As such, a programme has been launched for the development of slums of Baleswar city. The Chief Minister also mentioned about his Government’s efforts for empowerment of women.
He concluded, “You all know that the general election will be held after three years. Lots of development work can be done within the period. Like Bijepur, I’ll myself monitor the development work of Baleswar. I appeal to you all to vote in favour of BJD candidate Swarup Kumar Das.”
