Doctors skipping corona patients for 3 days in Puri

Though the district administration has been boasting of successfully fighting out Covid infection cases and giving best cares to the patients, yet the ground reality paints a different picture. It is in fact a story of negligence and apathy.

For the last three days, as many as ten patients undergoing treatment in the Covid Hospital found no doctor attending to them.

On the contrary, the patients got treatments and cares only from the other staff members due to absence of doctors in the ward.

The Covid Hospital is situated at Red Cross Road in the city, which is equipped with ultramodern facilities for critical patients and headed by two teams of 10 doctors.

Sources said that between December 15 and 17, the doctors didn’t make their round to the wards situated on first floor of the building inside cholera hospital campus.

From giving injections, saline and medicines to all other treatments and cares, the Covid

warriors offrered the services to the patients during the three days.  Besides the staff nurses, majority of Covid warriors on duty are contractual staff. After trainings, they are working temporarily for the Covid patients.

Though the cause of negligence for long three days to patients is unknown, but sources cleared that Dr S Panda, heading team of four doctors, was under treatment due to leg fracture.

Dr UK Nandi, heading a second team of four doctors has recently joined his duty completing a leave for his Covid treatment. After recovery, he has recently joined but was transferred to tuberculosis hospital. He is in additional charge of the Covid wards also.
