PNS

The doctors from Sambalpur and from all over the western Odisha under the banner of the All Odisha Hospital and Private Practitioners Forum (AOHPPF) on Friday took to streets protesting the Governments’ restriction on nursing homes and clinics.

“We are ready to obey the Government since we are law abiding citizens. But the same rule should be applicable to establishments like Amri Hospital, Apollo.  But targeting only small clinics and nursing homes is not acceptable,” said Dr PK Pradhan of Samaleswari Nursing Home and many others those who resorted to cease work for 24 hours.

Doctors for the first time moved round the city to stake their demands before the Government and make public aware about the atrocious law.

They also organised a vast rally with more than 500 people  which began from Samaleswari Temple to the office of the Collector and handed over a memorandum addressing to the Chief Minister and the Health Minister.

Different other organisations alike the Indian Medical Association (IMA), India Dentist Association (IDA), Odisha Sales Representatives Union (OSRU) and Sambalpur District Bar Association also extended their whole hearted support to strike.

In Bargarh, a vast rally led by Dr Ramkrishna Purohit was also organised where hundreds of doctors participated and handed over a memorandum to district Collector Indramani Tripathy.
