Police arrested a doctor on Saturday in Boudh district for allegedly cheating a woman after having sexual relations with her on the pretext of marrying her.
The accused was identified as Tapan Kumar Satpathy, a doctor at the Kantamal Community Health Centre in the district.
Cops nabbed Satpathy from a Covid healthcare facility in Boudh after registering a case.
As per a complaint lodged by the woman with Brahamapur Mahila police, Satpathy came in contact with her through Facebook. Later, both developed intimacy and the doctor got physical with the woman on the promise of marrying her.
However, Satpathy married another woman in 2019. Since then he stayed away from her. Later, when she came to know about the doctor’s marriage she approached the police.
