Tension gripped the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) as a doctor beat a patient injuring him on his face on Tuesday.
According to sources, one Nandighosh Mohanty had come to the hospital on Tuesday morning for treatment. But the doctor on duty allegedly beat him inside a room.
“I came to the hospital to consult doctor about my disease. When was standing in the queue and when my number turned the doctor all of sudden beat me mercilessly even closing the door,” said the victim.
The victim also lodged a complaint at the Town police station in this regard.
Meanwhile, the district administration has directed the Chief District Medical Officer to probe the incident. Besides, ADMO and other senior doctors would also assist the CDMO in the investigation.
Meanwhile, the ADMO visited the spot and termed the assault as unfortunate.
“The CDMO was attending a grievance meeting and asked me to come to the spot. Inquiry has already been started and strong legal action would be initiated against the doctor if he found guilty,” said the ADMO.
