Vigilance sleuths on Thursday arrested Dhenkanal district’s Gondia Enzen SDO Rakesh Ranjan Roy while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.5,000 from Akshaya Nath of Kosida village to give electric connection to his bore-well.
Nath had applied to the SDO for electric connection to his bore well by depositing Rs 70 online a week ago. When Nath approached him, Roy demanded Rs 5,000 for the purpose. Nath reported the matter to the Vigilance SP, Cuttack Division.
Accordingly, Vigilance officers laid a trap and caught Roy red-handed while taking Rs 5,000 from Nath in his office room. Ray’s house on Plot D/987 in CDA Sector-6, Cuttack was in progress, informed an official release.
