D'nal DHH new building road still crammed

PNS

After a long wait of around 30 years, the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) functioning over only less than 3 acre of land near Brahmani Devi temple, ultimately shifted to the proposed land near the Dakhinakali temple.

On 10.5 acres of land acquired for the new hospital on Dakhinakali Road, a seven storied building has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 43 crore. The newly constructed hospital consists of 242 rooms, 256 toilets, 215 rooms provided with AC facility, four operation theaters (OT), 24 cabins and six lifts apart from ICU.

Dialysis facility, free cancer center, Malaria, Dengue, TB, leprosy and Eye wards and a specific ward for mental retarded are there.

Even though much better health service is expected from the newly constructed hospital, but it will create problem for the conveyance of critical patients, as the approach road from Ganesh Bazar up to Dakhinakali temple always remains crowded. Besides, it is a narrow lane with its both sides having been illegally occupied by a few influential persons. Earlier, several attempts for the eviction drive made by the district administration and the civic body had failed to yield any results. Besides, the DHH is running with shortage of doctors and other manpower, which is yet to be addressed.
