A 17-year-old physically challenged girl was allegedly molested by an instructor while undergoing vocational training in the Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR) centre at Olatpur under Kantapada block of Cuttack district.
As per the FIR filed by the girl’s father at the Olatpur police station, she was undergoing stipendiary training for knit work provided by the centre. The victim of Ichhapur village was reportedly a lame.
The accused, a contractual instructor of SVNIRTAR, had been molesting. He had recently taken her to Cuttack and abandoned her at Badambadi. Getting information, the girl’s family members rushed to Cuttack and brought her home.
Though the FIR was filed three days back, it is yet to be registered. The girl is mentally abnormal, and as there is no evidence in the case, the FIR has not been registered, said ASI Alok Sarangi.
