Diploma engineers' demo before Assembly today

PNS

The Odisha Diploma Engineers’ Service Association (ODESA) threatened to resort to a mass agitation in front of Assembly on Friday protesting the indifferent attitude of the State Government towards their longstanding demands. Nearly 8000 engineers will join the protest rally, the association said.

Alleging that though the State Government had decided to implement cadre restructure system for both degree and diploma engineers since two years back but it is yet to be implemented, said association general secretary.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in 2008 had informed the State Assembly for creation of engineering cadre in Panchayatiraj raj (PR) Department but it is still in proposal stage only, alleged the association. The association too stated that nearly 2,300 diploma engineers of the PR Department are in dilemma regarding regularisation of their services.
