Crime Branch police on Wednesday arrested three persons and seized a tanker each of diesel and kerosene from the Jagatpur area of the city, where the adulteration of the fuel was being done clandestinely. Acting on a tipoff, the CB sleuths raided the spot and arrested two tanker drivers and a helper engaged in the illegal activity. “We have also seized several other essentials, including generators and fire extinguisher equipment from the spot,” said a senior Crime Branch official. Reports of tankers drivers engaged in diesel adulteration at the behest of fuel retailers from rural areas are rampant, and the Jagatpur locality is considered to be a safe haven for this unscrupulous trade to flourish.
