The Commssionerate police on Monday expedited their investigation into the mysterious death of journalist Navin Das’ son Manish Anurag, who was found dead in a pond at Patrapada under the Tamando police station in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

Police have begun the process for a diatom test and sent the samples to the forensic laboratory to ascertain the exact cause of death. The test would help the cops ascertain if the youth drowned to death or was murdered and his body was dumped in the water body, police sources said.

The circumstantial evidence suggested that the 30-year-old was murdered and thrown into the pond. Meanwhile, his family alleged that Manish was kidnapped and later murdered by his friends. Manish’s marriage was scheduled to be held in November. It is alleged that Manish was abducted by two persons in a car from the Infocity area on Saturday. The abductors had allegedly made a ransom call to his family members.

Meanwhile, teams from Infocity and Tomando police station sealed the Hotel South City at Patrapada on the day to carry out a detailed investigation into the case. Manish had reportedly visited the hotel some hours before he was allegedly abducted on Saturday late at night.

Das said, “Police Commissioner Priyadarshi has assured me that the culprits will be brought to book. As a father, I have full faith in the police and I respect law. I hope they will reveal the names of culprits or murderers soon.”
