Diarrhoea claims 1 life; 50 affected in N'pada

PNS

Over 50 persons were reported to be suffering from diarrhoea in Nuapada district, while the disease has already claimed one life. The deceased was identified as Naba Majhi of Jhakarmunda village of Sinapali block.

"Majhi died due to lack of proper treatment," his villagers alleged. The Health department officials attributed the cause of the disease to consumption of untreated and contaminated water supplied by the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department (RWSS). The RWSS department is supplying water from the Udanti river without properly disinfecting the source, said sources. Meanwhile, all the patients have been admitted to the Sinapali medical. CDMO Dr Maniram Satapathi visited the hospital to take stock of the situation and later said that the situation was under control.
