Director-General of Police (DGP) Sanjeev Marik inaugurated a new building of the Phulbani town police station built at a cost of Rs2.3 cr on Friday. The DGP also inaugurated a new building of an anti-Naxal cell inside the Phulbani DPO. Kandhmal SP Kanwar Biswal Singh, DIG Amitab Thakur, IG (Operation) SK Priyadarshi, Director of Intelligence Sunil Ray and Ganjam SP Narsingh Bhola were present, among others.
At the inaugural meeting, Marik said police should be public-friendly. He also interacted with the public for some time and asked them to contact him directly for any serious issue.
later, the DGP briefed newsmen regarding various issues of Kandhmal district. To control Maoist menaces, he directed SPs of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nayagarh to keep strict vigil and make coordination among them.
