Devotees can not touch lords on Snan Mandap

PNS

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and the Daitapati Nijog on Monday decided at a meeting in Puri that devotees would not be allowed to touch lord Jagannath, lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra on the Snan Mandap on the Snan Purnima.

However, the devotees would be allowed to have Darshan of the deities from a short distance of the Mandap.

The decisions were taken at a joint meeting held between SJTA officials and Daitapati Nijog members under the chairmanship of SJTA chief Suresh Mohapatra.

It may be noted that devotees are also not being allowed to climb atop Raths during the annual Rath Yatras for the last three years.
