Despite hype, B'swar projects yet to take off

The Youth Congress  leaders have alleged that  the district  could hardly witness developments although the incumbent Government has been in power for more than two decades.

Although  the BJD announced a lot of projects and programmes, yet on ground very little improvement is seen, alleged Congress youth wing district president Bikram Panda.

11 years ago, the foundation stone for a modern bus stand with all facilities had been laid by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik  at Ganeswarpur.

But, the facility is nowhere to be seen except a boundary wall around the identified patch, he lamented. The progress of  a proposed Idco tower worth Rs 36 crore which was to be built  in the line of the Fortune Tower in Bhubaneswar, to  cater to the need of trade, commerce, industries and corporate requirements is also very tardy.

Further, 10 city buses worth over Rs 7 crore which were procured without any route plan are gathering dust, told Panda.

Besides, a hi -tech park near Badakhua which was to be developed with Rs 1 crore budget also remains a non-starter though publicity was very big for the project.

Similarly, a proposal for construction of an Indoor stadium at Angargadia on a piece of land of 2.3 acres at a cost Rs 9 crore although has been announced, yet it will be a failure project as  there is land dispute and the matter is sub judice in the Orissa High court, said Panda.

Among others, the Press meet was attended by Gyanendra Mohanty, Nisith Barik, Susanta Rana and Asish Sahu of the Youth Congress.
