At a time when around 400 persons have tested positive for dengue and one died of the disease in the State, the Government on Wednesday claimed that it is well prepared to combat the menace.

Health Secretary Arti Ahuja said the Government has arranged separate wards and laboratories at the district hospitals and medical colleges for effective treatment of patients.

"The Government has decided to provide free diagnosis and treatment to the patients. There is no need to panic," said Ahuja. She said one person died due to dengue in the State. The deceased identified as Hemanta Jena of Baleswar district had come to the State in a critical condition from outside.

In order to deal with the situation, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday took a review meeting on dengue, malaria and other waterborne diseases. It was revealed that dengue virus is coming from outside the State and the Government has put a strict vigil on the situation.

Around 40,000 ASHA workers have been trained to diagnose and treat malaria patients while 30 lakh llIN nets would be provided to people in 2015-16 fiscal. The Government has set a target to bring one crore more nets from GFATM organisation working for TB and malaria.
