The students of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medial Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, on Friday staged demonstration in front of the office of the Vice-Chancellor of Sambalpur University over not allowing two final year students from appearing at examination.

As per information, two students, Dinesh Sahu

and Manisha Prashad, failed in a subject in both annual and supplementary examination of

MBBS-II. Thereafter, they appeared at the MBBS-II examination with the junior batch in the following year. However, as the annual Part-1 examination of MBBS-III was going on at that time, they could not appear at the examination of the same year.

later, they appeared in the supplementary of the Part-1 examination of MBBS-III, but they were not allowed to appear at the Part-II examination of MBBS-III (Final MBBS Examination) in the month of April as the results of the Part-1 supplementary examination of MBBS-III was awaited.

A petition was also filed in the High Court in this connection. And the High Court passed an order to allow the students to appear at the supplementary of final examination of MBBS under the clause that they pass Part-1 examination of MBBS-III.

But despite the order of the High Court, the university authorities conducted the Part-II supplementary examination of MBBS-III on August 25. As a result, the above two students could not appear.

However, all other students demanded before the authorities to conduct special examination for these two students. However, they withdrew the agitation after a discussion with the authorities.

Vice Chancellor of Sambalpur University Prof CR Tripathy said, “A meeting will be convened in the presence of Principal of VIMSAR on this matter on November I to take a call on the issue."
