The Citizen Committee of Tarbha NAC under Subarnapur district staged demonstration inside the Tarbha CHC here and gave a memorandum to hospital in-charge Khirod Mishra, urging recognition of First Referral Unit (FRU) to the CHC.

Sources said shortage of doctors and paramedical staff has paralyzed healthcare service at the Tarbha CHC. At present, Khirod Chandra Mishra, who is in charge of Medical Officer, is managing the affairs of the CHC which receives more than 450 patients daily. A population of around 50,000 of three districts such as Subarnapur, Balangir and Boudh depend on the CHC for basic healthcare services. The CHC is located 30 km from Subarnapur DHH and 20 km from Balangir DHH. They alleged that due to Government negligence, villagers are not getting adequate healthcare services from the CHC and demanded immediate posting of doctors.

Out of sanctioned strength of five doctor posts, gynaecology and paediatric posts are lying vacant in the      CHC since long. The dental specialist has gone for training. After several memorandums, the administrations have turned a blind eye to the problems of the CHC.

If the demands are not met soon, we will hold a Tarbha Bandh after a month, warned Citizen Committee president Haribandhu Panigrahi. Amon others Rabindra Thakur,Prabira Sahu, Akbar Ali, former NAC Chairman Sailendra Sahu, AES College president Nilamani Seth, Sirish Mohanta, Amrut Naik, Roshan Sahu, Srabani Mishra were present.
