Demo for CBI probe from Dec 3 before Assembly

PNS

Various women, mass and civil society organisations under the banner of Nari Nirjatana Birodhi Abhijan on Saturday threatened to resort to an indefinite agitation in front of the State Assembly from December 3, the day the winter session of the Assembly will begin, if the Government does not order CBI probe into the sensational school teacher Itishree Pradhan murder case.

“So far as the dying declaration of the deceased is concerned, Itishree was deprived of justice though she had moved from pillar to post. Starting from the Rayagada SP, Collector to the DGP and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, nobody came to her rescue resulting in brutal killing of her,” women activist Pramodini Pradhan told media persons here after visiting Tikiri and the deceased’s village at Delang.

Stating that the Crime Branch is not an appropriate agency to probe the case independently as the names of the Chief Minister and the DGP are involved, Pradhan said a CBI inquiry would be a right option to unearth the truth. Woman activist Tapasi Praharaj demanded disciplinary action against the four suspended Government officials including Tikiri police station, IIC Sujit Kumar Say and ASI Muralidhar Pradhan as per the Civil Services Classification Control and Appeal Rule and Odisha Police Manual instead of dismissing them hurriedly.
