--'It’s my duty to carry forward father’s dream’
: The buzz around the upcoming by-election in Jharsuguda has intensified as Deepali Das, daughter of late BJD leader Naba Kisore Das, has hinted at contesting the elections if the people and Chief Minister wish so.
During observing the birth anniversary of Biju Patnaik on Sunday, Deepali spoke to local reporters about the possibility of her being fielded as a candidate by the BJD. Many leaders in the area have already openly voiced their support for her candidacy following her father's demise, she claimed.
Naba was a prominent figure in the BJD and had endorsed Deepali as his political successor. She has since played active roles in various political campaigns in the district, including the panchayat and municipal elections.
Deepali stated that it was the duty of her and her brother, Vishal Das, to carry forward their father's dream of bringing development to Jharsuguda.
The Jharsuguda by-election has become a talk of the town, with many looking forward to the announcement of the candidate. All eyes are now on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to see who he will endorse for the upcoming by-election.
