Tension ran high at Balianta on the outskirts of the capital city on Thursday when family members of a woman gheraoed the local police station alleging that she was murdered by her in-laws at Ranga Bazaar in Balianta.
The family members along with hundreds of villagers and members of Utkal Janani Sangha staged a demonstration demanding action against the in-laws of the deceased Seema Sahu, who belonged to Sareikala in Jharkhand. They alleged that their daughter Seema, who was living with her husband and in-laws at Ranga Bazaar, was murdered on September 24.
They alleged that the in-laws are now trying to pass it off as a suicide case. They had lodged a complaint with the police, but the latter are not taking any action against the guilty though a month has passed since the incident.
