Sobhagya Sahoo (23), who was injured in the cracker explosion in village Paschimabachalo under Binjharapur police station in the district on Saturday, succumbed to the injuries at the SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack on Wednesday night.
With Sahoo’s death the toll in the cracker explosion rose to two.
Earlier on Saturday night, his father Ramakanta Sahoo was killed and three family members sustained serious in the explosion, said Binjharapur PS IIC Shiba Charan Behera.
After the death of father and son duo, police swung into action on Thursday and launched a crackdown on illegal crackers units in different places in the district and seized huge cache of crackers from Paschimabachalo, Chikana, Alakuntha, Manitapur and other villages.
Police also arrested one Gopal Mallick of Manitapur on the charges of illegally manufacturing crackers.
