The District Child Protection Officer, Sundargarh met the victim minor tribal girl who is a victim of unwed motherhood and her parents on Tuesday and conducted counselling to them to provide justice to them.
The victim girl is a mother of girl child of six months and the accused has ditched her and is on the run. The DCPO has assured her family of all necessary support from the district administration.The 16- year- old victim who belongs to Sabdega area was cheated by one Arman Minz, a resident of Karamdih Dungajor of Sadar police station and had impregnated her on the promise of marriage.
However, when the victim told her to go for marriage, he cast her off and fled the area. The victim and her poor parents did not file a complaint with police out of shame.
“We met the victim family at her residence on Tuesday and conducted a counselling session with the victim girl and her parents," said Sundargarh DCPO S Jena.
“We also assured them of all support from the district administration, since the girl is due to get victim compensation, and matter would be taken up after registration of a formal case,” added Jena.
