A 24-year-old girl and her lover were arrested by Rourkela police here on Tuesday, allegedly for killing her mother, since the mother had been opposing their relationship.
The body was recovered from their house under mysterious circumstance, about two months ago and police were investigating the case after registering an unnatural death case.
Sources said, on December 2 2016, Sector 7 police had recovered body of one Pano Naik (54), wife of Aganu Naik, an employee of Rourkela Steel Plant, from his official quarter D/9, Sector 8. It was stated that Pano was found dead in her bedroom and the reason of death was not known. Sector 7 police had therefore registered an unnatural death case and were investigating into the matter. During investigation, the police came to know that Riya Kumari, the elder daughter of deceased Pano, was having an affair with a youth identified as Subrat Bharasagar (26), for which tension was prevailing in the house. Investigating further in to the matter, the police suspected the involvement of Riya and Subrat in the killing of Pano.
Interrogating the duo, police could find a sensational well-planned and cold blooded murder story. According to police sources, on December 2 morning, Pano had lost temper over the relationship of Riya with Subrat, who was staying at one servant quarter of C/9, Sector 9. Pano reportedly had scolded Riya and given her ultimatum to end all type of relationship with Subrat. Riya on the other hand had not taken it well and had informed the development to her lover Subrat, after which both of them had planned to kill Pano, police sources said.
As per their plan, on same day evening, when Pano, Riya and her younger sister were in the house, Riya had told her mother that she was going to local market with her younger sister to have some fast food items. Since Riya was going with her younger sister, her mother had not suspected anything and had allowed her to go. As per their plan, Subrat had joined them in the market and they had ordered some fast food items in a fast food shop. When the preparation was going on, Riya and Subrat took a plea that they are coming from a nearby place within minutes and requested Riya’s younger sister to wait there for them. Riya along with her lover Subrat had reached her home and had reportedly killed Pano by suppressing a pillow on her face, police sources said.
“Both Riya and her lover Subrat during interrogation confessed that they killed Pano, since she had been opposing their relationship,” said Sector 7, police station IIC SN Das.
