The District and Sessions Judge of Jajpur sentenced a man to life imprisonment on Wednesday for kidnapping and killing a Dalit minor girl five years back at village Nelia under the Badachana police station.
Pronouncing the verdict in the sensational case, the judge convicted Khyamasagar alias Tubula Sahoo to life imprisonment under Sections 302 and 366 of Indian Penal Code.
In 2008, the Dalit girl was brutally killed in a cashew forest near the village when she refused to marry the accused person. The District Judge declared lifer for the accused, finding him guilty after examining six witnesses, including an eyewitness Dilip Mallick.
