Members of the National Confederation of Dalit Organisation ((NACDOR) on Saturday said its members would gherao the Naveen Niwas, the Chief Minister’s residence, here on Monday demanding proper implementation of the reservation policy in the State.
NACDOR State president Ashok Kumar Mallick said the State Government on April 29 this year had notified that it would increase reservation for ST people from 12 per cent to 22.5 per cent and for SC people from eight per cent to 16.25 per cent.
But the Government failed to send any Government notification to educational institutions to implement it from this year, as a result of which several of dalit and adivasi students could not get benefit out of the new reservation policy, Mallick said. “If the State Government does not implement the new notification immediately, we will gherao the Naveen Niwas on Monday,” said Mallick.
