The city police on Wednesday arrested an absconding city-based businessman, who went underground more than a year ago after swindling scores of people floating fake schemes to provide two-wheeler vehicles. Banka Behary Sadangi, proprietor of Sushil Motors at Badamabadi here, launched several lucrative schemes and collected over Rs1 crore from prospective buyers in the year 2013. But when the due time arrived to deliver the booked vehicles, Sadangi went underground winding up his showroom and godown. “A case was registered against the accused in 2013 and investigations were on,” said city DCP Sanjiv Arora, adding that Sadangi was arrested by a police team from an undisclosed location in Bhubaneswar.
