Cuttack City Cong panels to be formed afresh

Cuttack City (District) Committee president Md Moqim on Friday dissolved all ward committees and executive committees of the party in the city in order to revive them afresh.

“In view of the increase in number of wards in the city, the Congress ward committees and executive committees are dissolved for reorganisation,” Moqim said in a Press release. The Government has, meanwhile, increased the number of wards in the city from 54 to 59 and steps are now being taken by the Government to hold elections for forming a new Council of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).

Moqim also clarified that till the formation of new ward and executive committees, the old office-bearers would continue to remain in charge temporarily to carry forward the day-to-day party activities. “We are going to revive the party afresh soon in order to make it more dynamic,” Moqim said. The Congress has highlighted the misrule of the BJD-controlled CMC Council for last five years and brought to light the looting of relief materials by BJD leaders in the city during the recent cyclone. The Government was forced to order a Vigilance inquiry into the relief loot incident in which an FIR was registered against 29 corporators and four CMC officials.
