CUO's land registration completed

The Central University of Orissa (CUO) has concluded its land registration process by signing an agreement with the State Government. Koraput district Collector Jaykumar V and university Vice-Chancellor Prof Sachidananda Mohanty signed the agreement.

The 430 acre of land near the Hindustan Aeronautics limited and the Naval Armament Depot, Sunabeda allotted to the university in 2009 by the Government was registered on May 24, 2016 at the Sub-Registrar Office, Patangi, Koraput.

Earlier, the registration process was in limbo due to the nonpayment of lease rent, cess and other fees of Rs 138 crore by the university. Prof Mohanty’s continuous efforts requesting the State Government and the Union MHRD to exempt cess, lease rent and other fees resulted in dispensation of the university from premium, rent, cess, incidental charges and arrears amounting to Rs 138 crore.

The Vice Chancellor, thanking the authorities for their support said the Central University of Orissa would become a hub of higher education in this region.
