The Vigilance police on Friday caught Chittaranjan Mohanty, CT and GST Officer, Enforcement Unit, Paradip while accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 from a person.
Mohanty had demanded the bribe from the complainant to furnish closure report in a CT and GST case.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were carried out on the residential double-storied building of Mohanty at CDA in Cuttack, his house at native village Kapileswar in Kendrapada district and his office chamber at Paradip.
Further, Rs1 lakh was recovered from his office cupboard, the source of which was being verified.
Later, Mohanty was arrested and forwarded to court.
