Chandrasekharpur police station here will get two new Sub-Inspectors (SIs) by December this year, said Twin City Police Commissioner Dr RP Sharma while interacting with the locals during a police-public interface at Nalco auditorium on Sunday.
“Compared to the actual sanctioned strength, there is inadequate staff at Chandrasekharpur PS. Effort is on to recruit two young SIs at this PS by December,” said Sharma.
He said that a group of 30 volunteers will soon be formed who will work hand in hand with the police to check crimes in the area. The volunteers would work in tandem with PCR vans.
Participating in the interaction, ward no 9 corporator Ranjan Kumar Jena urged the police to focus on regular patrolling and maintain cordiality with the public.
Dr Sharama said that corporate houses functioning in the area will be requested to provide PCR vans, besides financial assistance for repair of defunct PCRs.
Now, only one PCR is plying while another one is lying defunct under the police station. locals also demanded two outposts at Niladri Vihar and Sailashree Vihar, while Sharma assured that one would come up at Niladri Vihar soon.
