Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Prakash Mishra reviewed operations of the paramilitary forces in the Maoist-hit southern districts of the State on Monday. Mishra reviewed Maoist situation for the first time after becoming the CRPF chief. Mishra reached the CRPF camp at Chandrapur in Rayagada district and met some of the personnel engaged in the anti-Maoist operations.
He was accompanied by CRPF IG Pankaj Kumar and State Intelligence wing chief Sunil Ray and other top officers engaged in anti-Maoist operation. He is also scheduled to visit Malkangiri and Koraput. Sources said Mishra might visit cut-off areas on the other side of the Balimela reservoir in Malkangiri district where Odisha Police and Andhra Pradesh’s Grey Hound conducted a joint operation and reportedly killed seven Red Rebels in an encounter last week.
After taking charge as the CRPF DC, Mishra had said that his experience as the DGP of Odisha Police would help him in fighting against Maoists.
