Crops damaged in rains; give aid to farmers: Ganjam BJP to Govt

PNS

The BJP Ganjam district unit on Monday demanded that the State Government declare Ganjam as a district affected by torrential rains and provide compensation to all farmers for the damaged crops.

“The recent low pressure triggered rains have completely damaged crops across the Ganjam district. Farmers have suffered heavy losses. The Chief Minister should declared Ganjam a affected district and provide compensation to farmers soon so that situations of farmer suicides and migration of workers don’t occur,” said BJP district president Kanhu Charan Pati.

Alleging that Central funds allocated under the Swachh Bharat Yojana has been bungled massively, Pati too demanded that all roads and drains in Brahmpuar city are repaired soon in order to avoid water stagnation in coming days.

He informed that the BJP would gherao the Brahmapur Vigilance Office on Monday to press for an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds done by the Drainage Division.
