The Crime Branch police on Sunday took over investigation into the complaint of a woman medico of the SCB Medical College here, who is in the eye of a storm ever since the sexual escapades of Sarathi Baba came out in public earlier this week.

The 24-year-old final year MBBS student had lodged a written complaint before the police here seeking protection as she was apprehending threat to her life. Naming at least four persons in her complaint, the medico from Paradip had stated that these persons forced her to accompany the godman on his Hyderabad trip in early July this year.

Claiming that she was a devoted follower of the godman, the medico alleged that the named persons had been torturing her mentally for over four months and threatened of dire consequences if she did not follow their commands. She also alleged that the persons are in possession of a video clipping of her while she was bathing in the Baba's ashram on an earlier occasion.

While providing security in her hostel, the police have verified the genuineness of her complaint.

The Commissionerate Police, however, decided to hand over the matter to the Crime Branch for further investigation as the latter are in charge of the Baba case.

“We will register a fresh case on the basis of the complaint of the medico and question her about it at an appropriate time," said a senior Crime Branch officer on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the medico, accompanied by her hostel caretaker left for her home at Paradip on Sunday afternoon under police protection. Reports reaching here said security has been provided to her at her native village too.
