Close on the heels of a portion of the Palasuni flyover caved in, the Kathajodi bridge on the Mahanadi river in Cuttack city has developed cracks as was found on Wednesday.
A portion of the bridge connecting Gopalpur and the Link Road-end has cracked up towards the edge.
Noticing the newly-developed craters on the busy road, the portion has been cordoned off by the police and movement of heavy vehicles has been banned on the bridge.
The move has been taken to avoid further damage to the bridge and also to avoid any mishap.
Cuttack-Barabati MLA Muhammad Moquim reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
Locals have expressed resentment over the incidence and blamed administrative and professional lapses by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials for the fiasco.
