In view of the elections next month, the Cuttack district administration has given emphasis on curbing the preparation and sale of illicit liquor in the district.As part of its endeavour, the excise wing of the district administration during the last two days have seized 878 litres of illicit liquor worth `1.41 lakh and arrested seven persons in this connection.
Ever since the model code of conduct was enforced earlier this month, the district administration has executed as many as 448 NBWs and arrested as many persons. Similarly, exercising powers under Section 107 of CrPC, the district administration has arrested as many as 430 persons, official sources said.
