CPM violence in Kerala condemned across State

PNS

Protests have been registered across Odisha against the incidents of attack against BJP and RSS workers by CPI(M) activists in Kerala.

Brahmapur-based Nagarika Mancha in a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee sought his intervention to stop attacks on RSS and BJP workers by CPI (M) activists in Kerala.

In the letter, the Manch stated that there have been allegedly recurring assaults and gruesome murders of RSS and BJP workers and attacks on their houses by CPI (M) workers, all over Kerala and particularly, in Kannur district.

Marxist violence in Kerala has a long and painful history. However, the incidents of violent attacks were again witnessed during the last Assembly elections, and sadly, have increased after the lDF Government has come to power, the Manch alleged.

Notably, houses of RSS and BJP workers at Kanjikode of Palghat district were attacked and set on fire. Two persons, including a woman identified as Vimaladevi died due to 90 per cent burns. Kannan, her husband, is admitted in a hospital in critical condition.

Even though the RSS and the BJP leaderships have repeatedly requested the Kerala Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Home Affairs, to visit Kannur and initiate a move to convene a peace committee meeting to stop these politically sponsored lethal attacks in

his constituency and the rest of Kannur district and other areas, he has not responded positively, the Manch alleged and appealed to the

President to immediately intervene to stop these political attacks and establish peace and amity.

In Baripada, the Baripada Nagarik Manch on Wednesday held a protest meeting condemning the frequent and unabated killing of innocent social workers by the CPI (M) cadres.

Meeting convenor advocate lingaraj Mishra and other speakers accused the left Front Government of Kerala of promoting violence and vengeance leading to coldblooded political murders. This is unacceptable in a democracy, they said.

A delegation of the Manch then met Mayurbhanj ADM Surath Chandra Mallik and handed over to him a memorandum addressed to the President of India.

In Sambalpur, the Manab Adhikar Surakshya Manch (MASM) held a protest meeting condemning the brutality of the CPI (M) activists in Kerala resulting in the deaths of the BJP, RSS and other Hindu activists.

The office-bearers of the MASM and also from the BJP narrated the atrocities and murder committed by the CPI(M) leaders in Kerala systematically . They further alleged that the perpetrators of the violence have been emboldened due to active support from the Kerala Chief Minister.

The CM declares unwritten support to his party cadres to torture and kill their counterparts in Hindu organisations, alleged former District Judge and MASM office bearer Trinath Purohit.

The other speakers, including Bipin Nanda and Sabita Nanda, of the BJP

also mentioned many other incidents of violence

and arson committed by CPI(M) activists in Kerala with blessings from the Chief Minister.

They demanded exemplary action against the persons involved in the heinous crimes and submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India through the Sambalpur district Collector demanding to stop the violence. The national secretary of BJP Suresh Pujari also in strong words condemned the matter.
