PNS

Extending support to workers of the Adhunik Mettaliks limited (AMl) here in their demand for reopening of the company, the CPI(M) Sundargarh District Committee has threatened to launch a district-wide agitation in coming days. Notably, the company without any prior notice had declared lock out on February 13 leaving 5,000 people unemployed. In a press briefing, CPI (M) district Secretary Jahangir Ali said despite agitation staged by AMl workers demanding reopening of the unit, no development have been witnessed yet. In view of this, the party has warned both the company management and the district administration to take steps for immediate reopening the unit and disbursement of pending salaries, ESI, EPF and other arrears.

He further alleged that besides taking land from the State Government, the company authority has also acquired land of tribal people in deceitful manner to set up the company.
