On the charge of defying the State Government directions and violating Covid-19 guidelines, the Nilgiri police took 11 people in custody on Monday who were constructing a chariot for the ensuing Rath Yatra. Sub-Collector, Nilgiri, Harish Chandr Jena said, “ There is an order by the State Government for no Rath Yatra this year except in Puri. The district Collector also has issued a similar instruction and by me too. Yet some tried to construct a chariot. They were booked under the charge of defying Government order and violating pandemic guidelines. An FIR was lodged against them.”
