In a major breach of privacy, a photo of a document having names of coronavirus patients in Angul district surfaced on various social media platforms on Sunday and went viral.
According to reports, the document contained names and addresses of as many as 13 persons of the district, who tested positive for Covid-19.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the Sub-Collector, the Angul police have registered a case and started investigation into the matter. Efforts were on to trace the person who leaked the photo on social media.
Notably, the authorities are keeping the names of positive patients strictly under wraps, to save the families of patients from ostracisation and prevent panic spreading in the community where a patient is reported positive close to them.
