Rayagada ITDA PA Tuku Barik inaugurated Covid Sahayata Kendras (CSKs or Covid Help desks) for Niyamgiri tribals while flagging off a mobile awareness vehicle in presence of Medical Officer, Community Health Centre (CHC) Bissamcuttack Dr Ansuprava Choudhury, CDPO Susila Sabar and Medical Officer in-Charge Khambesi PHC Dr Unnati Rana.

It was organised by the Child in Need Institute (CINI) in partnership with CSR wing of IndusInd Bank Ltd at Khambesi PHC under Bissamcuttack block with support of Rayagada administration. T Barik, Dr A Choudhury, local tribal leader Jitu Jakesika and Sarpanch Drinja Jakesika also distributed wellness, hygiene and kitchen garden kits to the invited families and frontline workers on the occasion. The second wave of Covid-19 has severely affected Odisha. It also affected the particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs) residing in Rayagada district. Unprecedented fear, improper Covid appropriate health and nutrition behaviours and myths amongst SC, ST and PVTGs led to multi-fold challenges and complexities for them to fight against Covid pandemic.

The intensive drive for community campaign with  engagement of ICDS and frontline health workers would help promote Covid appropriate behaviours and vaccination drive. Hygiene kits would also be provided to frontline workers of Bissamcuttack block for safety measure and preventive care.
